Night is a symbol in the book that doesn't just represent the physical darkness of night but also the darkness that Eli felt in his soul. He had said when looking in the mirror for the first time in a long time, " There only remained a shape that looked like a man. The dark flame had entered my soul and devoured it." All the evil and horrible things that surrounded him made heart feel dark. Every last night that Eli had in the camps, in the gettos, and at home with his family he has remembered and they have ment something to him.

Though out the book it shows fire as a symbol of the Germans inhumanity towards the Jews.  In the bible fire is associated with god, god seems to appear to moses as a burnign bush. The lady that had the visions of fire and no one believed her, but they all soon realized she was right after seeing the fire coming from the crematoria and seeing Nazis burning babies in a ditch. Fire was the symbol for punishment for the Jews.

This picture shows the importance of Father-Son bond becuse andy and his son are close and would do anything for eachother just like Eli and his father. Throughout the book Eli watches out and takes care of his father. Eli felt as if he couldn't servive without his dad. After Eli see's some of the things that the sons would do to their fathers made him feel guilty as if he wasn't taking good enough care of his dad. Without eachother they probably would have died sooner.

This picture shows the inhumanity toward humans in the book. It shows a dog fighting another dog, in the book the Nazis burn and do horiable things to the Jews when they are both humans. At first the Germans seemed nice and was more of a reasurring impression than anything but they soon realized they were worng. Later in the book the Jews turn on thier own people to becuase they feel like they have no one anymore besides themsevles.

This picture showes how everyone felt while they were in the concentration camps. When they would get beat or see someone get beat they didn't say anything they were silent because they didn't want to get into trouble by saying something or be beat more. Silence plays a big role in the book. Everyone was silent, they didn't stand up for themsevles, or others and god was a part of the silence. No one knew why god was keeping silent when all this was happining to them, the people that worshiped him.

This picture represents Eli's struggle with god because in the picture the man is pushing god away for some reason and that's what happens to Eli when he loses all faith in god due to all the bad things that happen to him and all the Jews. At the beginning of the book, Eliezer faith in god strong. His faith make him believe that god is everywhere, all the time but his faith soon begins to fade after being one of the victims in the Holocaust. He always a faith in god when he was a prisoner at the concentration camps when it seemed like he had none but it wasn't there all the time like it was before all the things that happened to him and his family.
